Country Platforms as an approach for Social Protection, Debt Relief, and Climate Finance
This high-level side event, co-hosted by the the Government of Somalia, Senegal, Ireland and the ALL ACT Initiative, will explore how country platforms can unlock sustainable finance to scale social protection, enhance debt sustainability, and leverage climate finance for resilience and food security. Drawing on evidence from 39 SIDS, 10 LDCs, and FCAS—including the ASPIRE toolkit’s analysis of 30 social protection programs across 10 countries—the event will showcase solutions like anticipatory social protection, the SIDS Debt Sustainability Support Service (DSSS), and FRLD funding.

A Contribution to FfD4 in the Spirit of Monterrey - Barry Herman, November 2024
This paper was prepared as part of a project for the United Nations, which is assisting its Member States, international institutions, civil society and private sector stakeholders who are preparing the FfD4.
The paper addresses practical and political challenges in designing and adopting adequate financing of social protection and healthcare with domestic revenues and international support in "normal" times and in crisis times.
