e-GCSPF #126 - WSSD2 - February 2026

Follow-up to the outcome of the Second World Summit for Social Development

The 64th Session of the United Nations Commission for Social Development (CSocD) is taking place at UN Headquarters in New York. The CSocD has the responsibility to provide advice to the UN on social development issues. CSocD serves as the formal body for the follow-up and coordination of the commitments called "Copenhagen Declaration" made at the first World Social Summit in 1995 in Copenhagen and in the second Summit in 2025 in Doha.

Leaders, policymakers, and civil society representatives have gathered in Doha, Qatar, from 4 to 6 November 2025 for the Second World Summit for Social Development.

At the Summit, the UN General Assembly adopted “the Doha Political Declaration”, renewing commitments to global efforts to eradicate poverty, promote social protection, full and productive employment and decent work for all, and advance social integration.

The Declaration reaffirms the central role of social protection.

You will find below information about the Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD2) and what has happened in the last two months.
